Starbucks plans first stores in Argentina |
MONTERREY, Mexico – Coffee shop chain Starbucks Corp. is planning to open its first stores in the South American country of Argentina, a local partner said Wednesday. Mexican franchiser Alsea said it had signed a letter of intent with the U.S. company related to “the development of Starbucks Coffee establishments in Argentina.”
The two firms will also open stores in Chile, which already has Starbucks shops run by a different franchisee. Alsea , which operates Starbucks stores in Mexico and Brazil, said it hoped to sign a final contract with the coffee chain in a few weeks.
It did not give details of how many new stores would open or when.
